ENVIRONMENT IMPACT ASSESSMENT (EIA)

EIA PROCESS EXPLAINED

Environmental impact assessment (EIA) was developed as a tool to minimise negative impact of human activities on the environment.

The purpose of the environmental impact assessment is to

  •   assess the impact of a proposed activity on the environment        before making the decision on whether to carry it out, an
  •   develop and assess measures to avoid or minimise those            impacts if it is decided to carry out the activity.

We provide a diverse range of services to assist clients who need to undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in support of a specific development, or a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of a larger scale concept or planning policy.

The level of support our Team can offer ranges from individual technical sections through to complete management of the SEA / EIA and the associated planning process. We are particularly used to assessing large, complex projects across all Business

Areas and throughout all of our national operating areas.

The team at Direct Future Consulting understand the requirements of an EIA and how to present the required information for review by stakeholders such as the community and Government. We ensure our EIA processes and documents are of high quality, so that they provide strong support for our Client’s projects.

WHAT WE DO

Our Clients are typically developers or industrial clients, but Direct Future Consulting also provides pragmatic reviews of EIA work to regulators and other interested parties.

Direct Future Consulting can manage and deliver an entire EIA project from concept, pre-feasibility through to feasibility using experienced EIA project managers and its teams of technical specialists; or our technical experts can provide input on one or more discrete EIA topics. We also have the capacity to provide technical peer review as may be required for the more contentious projects to ensure that the assessment is robust and thorough.

Our approach to EIA work is iterative, working constructively to assess impacts and then to optimise project proposals to minimise those impacts whilst maintaining project viability.

The team at Direct Future Consulting have expertise in specific business sectors which they use to work pro-actively with their colleagues and clients to achieve a positive outcome.

Members of our team have experience in presenting technical evidence to regulatory bodies at decision making hearings as professional and/or judicial expert witnesses.

Members of our team have also been engaged by the University of South Australia to develop and delivery post graduate programs in the field.
